NBA Trade Rumors: Jeff Green To Los Angeles Clippers? Boston Celtics Forward Will Make LA Team Contenders! Passing On Paul Pierce A Mistake

The NBA trade rumors persist for the LA Clippers and Boston Celtics who are on totally different directions. Jeff Green is the next 'domino' projected to fall after Rajon Rondo and their former coach really needs him on his new team.

Doc Rivers already coached Jeff Green in his tenure in Boston but now that he's bolted the organization, he definitely wishes he took some of his players with him.

In a recent Grantland podcast, Bill Simmons has mentioned that Clippers president and coach Doc Rivers had a chance to sign Paul Pierce in free agency but he "lowballed" his former player in order to sign Spencer Hawes. Pierce ended up with the Washington Wizards and are now a contender in the East.

A report from CBS Sports says the Clippers continue to search for a small forward who can provide points-something Pierce has done his entire career:

"The Clippers continue to shop for a starting small forward, but have told at least one inquiring team that they do not intend to move valuable sixth man Jamal Crawford in the process, sources say. The Clippers have one of the least productive benches in the league as it is, and that problem would become even more pronounced if they moved Crawford. Coach and president Doc Rivers has few trade assets to work with, and the Clippers are hard-capped and thus don't have much flexibility to take on salary."

There's another Celtic than can fill the void. Jeff Green is a player on the block despite voicing his desire to stay in Boston. Now that Rondo is out, the Celtics are in full rebuild mode and Green is coveted by contenders. From the Clippers fan blog Fully Clips:

"Theoretically, Jeff Green would improve the Clippers. He's an upgrade from Matt Barnes (and depending on the deal, could push Barnes to the bench), is athletic, and adds a secondary threat alongside Chris Paul to create off the dribble in the starting lineup. This season, Green is averaging a career-high 20.7 points on 45 percent shooting."

That's something Doc Rivers could use. Will Danny Ainge help out his former coach even when he bolted them? What offer can the Clippers muster?
