2NE1's 'I Am The Best' Trending On Shazam 'Across The Globe'

Although "I Am the Best" was released in 2011, the iconic 2NE1 track is still gaining momentum worldwide.

This week, Shazam released an update showcasing hit songs that are gaining momentum across its charts, and 2NE1's "I Am the Best" was listed alongside artists like Counting Crows, Pitbull and Drake.

"These tracks are climbing fast up the Shazam charts," said the update on Facebook. "Increasing momentum shows what's new and spreading across the globe."

Through this, "I Am the Best" has been discovered by new fans via social media.

Currently, Microsoft's commercial for the Surface Pro 3 has been broadcasting online and on television, and many observers have caught on to 2NE1's 2011 smash hit "I Am the Best" despite not knowing Korean or K-pop in general.

"Is anyone else obsessed with the song in the Microsoft Surface commercial?" asked Kaitlin Madden on Twitter. "It doesn't even have any words I understand."

On October 20, Billboard reported that radio stations in New York and Boston have begun playing 2NE1's "I Am the Best" as the track continues to receive global attention due to the commercial.

In the week ending October 19, the anthemic 2NE1 single was reportedly played 24 times on WBMP New York and 14 times on WODS Boston. In addition, "I Am the Best" recently topped Billboard's World Digital Songs chart and reached 100 million views on YouTube.

Currently, 2NE1's leader Lee "CL" Chaerin is preparing for her solo American debut with the help of producers Diplo and Skrillex. The rapper's promotions will be overseen by Scooter Braun, the talent manager for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

After "I Am the Best" was re-released by American record label Capitol Records, rumors of 2NE1 possibly making an international debut after CL circulated the web, though they remain unconfirmed.
