Pau Gasol: Chicago Bulls Look Like NBA Champions! Dominant Season For Windy City Hoops Reminds Spanish Center Of Lakers Title Teams!

Pau Gasol is a winner. He has won in almost every field of his sport-as a professional and as a national team member. He has Olympic Silver and FIBA World gold medals as well as NBA championship rings. He knows a champion when he sees one and he was reminded of that with his current team Chicago Bulls.

The Spaniard has joined the Chicago Bulls and his career was rejuvenated. After dealing with early season chemistry issues (they had some significant changes) and injuries (Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, etc) they are now the beasts of the East. While they are still in second place, the playoff pedigree is starting to scare off even their vaunted rivals in the West.

Gasol has felt the triumph of dominance before when he won back to back titles with the Los Angeles Lakers. He can see the parallels lining up as he shares with ESPN Chicago:

"There's (sic) some resemblances, but again a championship team is a championship team. It proves it and it wins it. We had a run in 2008, we lost the Finals, and that was a tough hit. But it fueled us to win the next two."

He can see the trends with the Chicago Bulls even though he has just joined them this season. He totally embraced the team philosophy and provided a big contribution. His career has somewhat of a rebirth:

"I'm definitely energized, definitely rejuvenated, all in, and I have been since I got here, since I made my decision to come here. I've been energized, and mentally and physically engaged, so that's a huge deal for me."

His final assessment: "We have a really good team, no question about it, but we still have a lot of work to do, a lot of path to walk, and a lot of work ahead of us. The potential is great, but we really haven't accomplished anything yet. We're a team that strives for greatness, but we really have to prove a lot to ourselves and to the rest of the league."

With division rivals Cleveland Cavaliers floundering, the Bulls are charging and have become the odds-on title favorites. But as Gasol said, they have to prove it on the court.
