‘Flowers Of Evil' Author Shuzo Oshimi Reveals New Manga Entitled ‘Happiness' To Run In Bessatsu Shonen Magazine

The days of reading a serialized story in a magazine or newspaper are somewhat over. Most magazines now focus on news and adds respectively, with digests and short stories moving to digital.

But Japanese manga appears bulletproof: new series' run in weekly and monthly magazines giving new artists a chance to develop a following.

Perhaps that is why Kodansha continues to publish and serialize manga series. Nevertheless, Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine is set to publish Shuzo Oshimi's newest manga entitled "Happiness." The manga is set to debut in the March issue which hits shelves in February 9.

So far fan reactions to announcement about Shuzo Oshimi's have been positive:

"I loved the ‘Flowers of Evil' can't wait to read this," said Diozawardo on CR.

"Hell yeah! ‘Flowers of Evil' was a great read cant wait," commented Crazeemunkee.

According to Crunchyroll, "Happiness" will introduce a mysterious girl with glowing eyes who is wiping fresh blood from her mouth. The image in question is pictured above. Anime News Network provides the following translation of the new manga's description:

"Eerily glowing eyes and the hand that wipes away fresh blood! What is the true identity of this mysterious girl?!"

Shuzo Oshimi's "Flowers of Evil" mang originated in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009 and ended in the June 2014 issue. The manga is also currently being published by Vertical in North America. The anime adaptation of "Flowers of Evil" was streamed by Crunchyroll in 2013.

Shuzo Oshimi has had a plethora manga series before including "Inside Mari," which is currently running in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine. Oshimi has also been staff on several anime series, including providing the ending illustrations for popular man eating giant manga series "Attack on Titan."

Although no English translation has been confirmed yet, given the popularity of "Flowers of Evil," perhaps "Happiness" will come to North America. Given the recent amount of announcements about simultaneous publications, it seems certainly possible.
