Sistar's Backup Dancers Accused Of Copying 2NE1's Stage Outfits

Last year, Billboard named 2NE1 and Sistar in their list of ten K-pop girl groups readers should know, and a recent controversy may pit them against each other.

On Dec. 31, Sistar performed on the annual year-end music program "MBC Gayo Daejun." During this performance, observers noticed similarities between the stage outfits of Sistar's backup dancers to that of 2NE1.

"2NE1 wore those outfits the whole year on their concert tour," reported Instiz according to YGPress. "It's said that it was self-designed and not a brand collection. Sistar's backup dancers' outfits look the same as what 2NE1 wore during 'SBS Gayo Daejun,' so it's debatable whether it was plagiarized or not since they were said to be designed by 2NE1's stylist."

"Have you noticed everything that [Starship Entertainment] does for Sistar they try to link 2NE1 in it?" tweeted Jessi. S. "Just be prepared for more 2NE1 linkage with Sistar activities."

Others, however, believe the controversy is being blown out of proportion.

"It is true that Sistar's outfit here is similar to 2NE1's 'Crush' performances, but that doesn't mean they're not allowed to," commented rashiyu on YouTube. "It not like they're copying them. They can do what they want."

Today, it is expected that Sistar will make their debut on MBC Every1 in the fourth season of "Showtime," a reality series that takes viewers into the group's everyday lives. In addition, Sistar's powerhouse singer Hyorin is topping music charts with "Coach Me," a collaboration single with rapper San E and Starship Entertainment trainee, Jooheon.

Meanwhile, 2NE1's leader Lee "CL" Chaerin is expected to make her solo debut this Spring. Last week, Dazed named CL's English venture as one of 20 most anticipated albums of 2015.
