NBA Rumors: Kenyon Martin To Milwaukee Bucks? Veteran Journeyman Could Add Toughness To Young Bucks Team While Sanders Still Out?

The recent debacle regarding Larry Sanders have the Milwaukee Bucks seeking other options. Kenyon Martin is a former teammate of Bucks coach Jason Kidd and while he is way beyond his best years, he still has the toughness that the team requires.

Larry Sanders was at the forefront of NBA headlines when it was rumored that he wanted to quit basketball. The player and his agent were quick to issue a denial but nevertheless, Sanders is still not playing with the team as yet. The Bucks are a surprise team this year and a playoff appearance is actually within reach.

Entering the playoffs would be a good experience for their young players and they need a veteran in the paint. Kenyon Martin would provide a quick fix. ESPN reports:

"Free agent forward Kenyon Martin has auditioned for a few NBA teams in hope of landing a contract and one of them has offered him a deal, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Stein writes: The Milwaukee Bucks are signing former All-Star power forward to a 10-day contract, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com that the Bucks have committed to add Martin to their roster this week."

Martin is good friends with head coach and former teammate Jason Kidd. That and the rash of injuries to the frontline prompted this move by the Bucks."

It might not be that easy. The Bucks have a minor decision to make: "Milwaukee currently has a full 15-man roster, so they will need to remove one player via waivers or a trade. The waiver option may come down to backup point guards Kendall Marshall and Nate Wolters."

The decision to hire Martin might mean that Sanders' return is still part of a process. But the 10-day duration might be encouraging for Bucks fans that it's just a temporary set-up.

The Bucks have lost their Rookie of the Year candidate and second overall pick for the year, Jabari Parker.
