Preview A Face-Off Between Tsunemori Akane And Shinya Kogami In All New ‘Psycho-Pass' Movie Trailer [VIDEO]

While ‘Psycho-Pass' season two only offered Inspector Tsunemori's imagination of Kogami, it looks like the popular character is now confirmed to be the antagonist in the new ‘Psycho-Pass' movie.

Today, just before its premiere in Japanese movie theaters, an all new trailer was released for the ‘Psycho-Pass' animated movie. The new trailer offers up a confrontation between Akane and Kogami, who appears to be working with the alleged terrorist group that has infiltrated Japan. Fans can speculate about his role by watching the trailer below.

"Psycho-Pass" is written by famous anime screenwriter Gen Urobuchi. At the Japan Expo 2014 Urobuchi spoke to T-ono about how he feels toward the knowledge of his fame with U.S. fans.

"I'm very pleased and thankful that people in America are enjoying my stories even though there's a language barrier between us," said Urobuchi.

"I feel like Americans are more passionate about their hobbies than Japanese people. I am honored that something I created is being appreciated by people. I promise you that I will continue to try my best so that you will continue to love my works."

Perhaps Urobuchi's international fame will ultimately lead to a licensing of the "Psycho-Pass" movie in countries outside of Japan. It would seem to be the best way to show his appreciation of those who have a passion for his work.

For fans who are in Japan however, the "Psycho-Pass" movie finally arrived this weekend. According to Anime News Network, the new trailer began to stream after the release of the film. They provide an English transcript of the trailer in which Akane Tsunemori puts Kogami Shinya under arrest. It would seem their partnership is no more in the new film.

For those who are not familiar with the "Psycho-Pass" franchise, Funimation provides the following synopsis of the first season of the series:

"In the future, even just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty - and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don't cross the fine line between good and evil.

The great equalizer in the war against thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the probability that a citizen will turn criminal. There are no trials. Only Enforcers, Inspectors, and the Dominator. Commit a crime in your mind - and the Dominator will make sure you pay the ultimate price."
