NBA Trade Rumors: Deron Williams To Houston Rockets? Texas Team Needs Point Guard Upgrade! Will Brooklyn Nets Former All-Star Be The Answer?

The NBA trade rumors unite a familiar team with a familiar face. Deron Williams is a tough commodity to trade because of his price tag but if there's a team willing to take a risk and make a move, it's probably the Houston Rockets.

The buzz about the Rockets' interest to upgrade at the point came from Bleacher Report:

"Daryl Morey, no doubt, is burning up the phones, and the expectation is that he's going to go hot and heavy after a point guard.

They love Patrick Beverley, but ideally, he is the third guard in that rotation.

And to give an indication of just how aggressive they might be, sources around the league are saying don't count Deron Williams out from the Brooklyn Nets, even though he has that fat contract and right now has a rib injury."

Taking on Deron Williams is quite a risk especially since he's injured with no clear timetable for return. He had a mild resurgence this season but still far from his All-Star form with the Utah Jazz when he was one of the league's best point guards. That status earned him a contract that the Nets are trying to get rid of. NBC Sports illustrates how complicated his situation is:

"Williams is so highly paid, it's difficult to construct a trade that has the Rockets sending out enough salary to match. For example, a package of Jason Terry, Corey Brewer and Alexey Shved (the latter two can't be dealt with other players until days before the trade deadline) would fall $2,360,879 short of meeting Collective Bargaining Agreement rules."

The Rockets have coveted Deron Williams before as he is seen as good fit alongside Dwight Howard. The fit with James Harden might be questionable, though since the latter likes the ball in his hands when he operates. Still, Houston feels pressured to make an upgrade because the Western Conference playoff teams are loaded with the best point guards like Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Tony Parker, Damian Lillard, Mike Conley and the recently acquired Rajon Rondo.
