Today marks the anime premiere of food-porn anime "Koufuku Graffiti" (or "Gourmet Girl Graffiti" for those not familiar with the Japanese title). Episode one will later be streamed by Crunchyroll. Synopsis:

The episode begins with an explosion of flavorful tofu into the mouth of Ryo. She later tries to cook her own meal including radishes and fish, but is saddened that even though her food smells good, it doesn't taste good. She recalls her recently deceased Grandma's instructions that being good at cooking makes you a good wife.

Akira calls Ryo on the phone and says she shouldn't leave a middle school student on her own. Akira informs Ryo that she has a cousin that wants to go to the same school as her. Later, while Ryo is checking out Christmas trees, her cousin, Kirin Morino, shows up. She stormed out on her parents and has come to live there because her parents didn't want to let her commute to a cram school in Tokyo.

Kirin devours Ryo's cooking since it has meat, unlike her mother's cooking. Kirin tries to feed Ryo and after some reluctance Ryo eats it and realizes her food is good. Kirin comments on how Ryo eats food "erotically." Kirin separates her carrots from the hotpot and Ryo says she too can learn to make hot pot.

Later while Kirin is in the bath, Akira calls her to check on Kirin and notes that she's probably a bit lonely. Kirin has a full blown cold at this point, so Ryo tries to give her one of her coats. Kirin refuses the coat and they head to school. There the girls meet Ryo's friends/classmates Megumi and Yousai.

Kirin is seriously sick later so Ryo takes her home. Kirin rests and Ryo calls her parents - her dad says he's worried. Ryo makes some tofu Udon and Kirin devours it. Ryo makes some sweets for herself and tries to hide them but Kirin insists that she get some too. The girls drink some tea with their sweets and talk about Kirin's Mom. Her mom makes too much healthy food - but it's clear that Kirin loves her.

Ryo explains that her parents are working overseas and her Grandmother died a year ago. Her aunt, Akira, check in on her every once and a while. Kirin tells her that she doesn't enjoy her cooking because she eats alone. Kirin vows that they will become family and enjoy her food together.

The next day Kirin is back to full health. She heads back home to her parent's in the country. Ryo sends her off with the sweets and a nice note.
