NBA Trade Rumors: Brandon Jennings To LA Lakers? Detroit Pistons Guard On The Block! Jeremy Lin Clash With Kobe Makes Him Expendable?

The NBA Trade rumors escalate with just over a month before the trade deadline. Brandon Jennings had a resurgence since Josh Smith left the Detroit Pistons so his value has increased.

The Detroit Pistons are on a winning streak since waiving Josh Smith but apparently, this does not mean that the roster is set. One player that seems to have been unleashed is Brandon Jennings but according to a Bleacher Report rundown of trade prospects, he is still on the block.

The Pistons blog Detroit Bad Boys has analyzed these rumors:

"Jennings, however, is probably a more complicated story. Jennings is playing excellent (if unsustainable) basketball since the Smith release. His backup, DJ Augustin, has come on lately, but he has his own large set of positives and negatives. The fact is, unless you're super high on Spencer Dinwiddie, there is a good chance the point guard of the future is not currently on Detroit's roster."

Jennings was signed by former Pistons GM Joe Dumars who also signed Josh Smith. Both the deals were criticized. Thus, it is believed that Stan Van Gundy has more plans on moving more players. "Perhaps the Pistons would still be interested in selling high on Jennings, but it would require that they get back either a nice pick or salary relief. The cost would be to make the awfully thin at the point guard spot, so a deal is still unlikely. If the team is serious about a playoff push, and it should be, they probably can't afford to trade Jennings right now."

But the Pistons are still out of the playoff race. They can use this recent series of games to boost his value. One of the more interesting destinations for Jennings is LA since he was born in the California area. The Lakers recently saw a clash between Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin. Lin has an expiring contract and can offer the Pistons more flexibility in the summer.

This is still speculative but it has potential on the surface. Will it actually take place?
