K-Pop Idol Makeup Trends: Guys Wearing More than Just Eyeliner

While many male artists in America don't usually admit to wearing makeup, it's completely different in Korea. Male idols will usually sport as much foundation and powder as the girls, if not more.

Makeup has always been seen as a feminine thing but with the demand for perfect idols at an all-time high it seems that companies are doing whatever it takes to please fans.

Most guy groups keep their look simple with nothing more than foundation and concealer to hide those dark circles from late night dance practices, while other groups go for more intense looks to push the envelope and stand out from the crowd.

Some of the more infamous male idol makeup looks were 2PM's intense glittery eye-shadow for their "I'll Be Back" music video and G-Dragon's smokey eye paired with black and white lipstick for Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby" video.

Despite these looks garnering attention and praise, most idols stick to simpler styles. A smokey eye may be the farthest most will go, as it's a sexy and sultry look that can bring depth to a once plain face.

Male idols in makeup have become such a normal part of K-pop that fans don't even notice anymore. Many people who may not know much about Korea's standard of beauty and the entertainment industry may think that it's a bit much but it's become so common that even regular guys are starting to follow the trend of wearing makeup too.
