YG Entertainment Responds To Alleged Plagiarism Controversy Surrounding Taeyang's 'Eyes, Nose, Lips'

After being accused of copying the instrumentals for his hit song "Eyes, Nose, Lips,' Taeyang's agency has issued a statement.

Last week, Big Bang member Taeyang found himself in the middle of a plagiarism controversy surrounding his massive hit single "Eyes, Nose, Lips." American artist Derrick Bullock alleged that the Korean R&B singer stole the instrumental melody for the tune from his song "Change Me." Now, Taeyang's record label, YG Entertainment, says they are planning to take legal action against Bullock.

"These past couple of days we recognized the issue regarding Derrick Bullock's use of ["Eyes, Nose, Lips"] without permission and strongly protested against [what went on] to Derrick Bullock and music websites [that released the song]," the company said in a statement on January 10.

YouTube has since removed Bullock's song from their site and iTunes has halted sales of "Change Me." Other music streaming services have also removed the song after the Korean agency issued a formal warning. YG Entertainment further said that they intend to be stricter when it comes to monitoring online music sites and penalizing those who infringe on their artists' copyrighted material.

Bullock has since recanted his original statement that he originally wrote the tune five years ago and that Teddy, DEE.P, and Rebecca Johnson, the team credited with the creation of "Eyes, Nose, Lips," copied him.

Through a spokesperson, Bullock admitted that he used the piano accompaniment from Taeyang's single for "Change Me," which was released in a month after the original in August 2014. According to the spokesperson, Bullock extended his apologies.
