Aniplex To Offer ‘Persona 3 The Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream' Collector's Edition Blu-Ray At Discount Price Including Art Box Designed By Keisuke Watabe

It's no secret that anime fans often have to pay more than what they would usually for imports of their favorite series. In fact, pricing of anime has long been a hot topic of debate among fans (see various Reddit threads about alleged outrageous prices)

But as some have realized, when it comes to anime outside of Japan you sometimes have no choice.

Nevertheless, it would appear that Aniplex has heard the complaints about pricing and have such decided to offer their latest Blu-ray release at a discounted price. Today it was announced that "Persona 3 the Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream" Blu-ray will be offered to fans in a collector's edition and a standard edition starting March 11. Specifically, they will offer both versions at discounted prices, which fans can find below.

Despite the reported discount, some fans are still disappointed with Aniplex's price offering for this single Blu-ray release:

"Also, since when is a single movie worth $80 plus tax.....that's like 26 dubbed episodes from Funimation," questioned Ambimunch in an ANN forum.

"I have no faith that Aniplex will ever release this at a sane/normal price point of 20-30 dollars for a bluray movie, 15-20 for a DVD," said Kougeru.

"In the end, I'm shocked that I'm considering spending that much for another SINGLE DVD again. I'm not impressed by the price tag, but the first movie was pretty good and have committed to watching this through. It'd be ideal if that were the price for all three, but I'll be preordering this in the end," explained Suiseiten.

According to Anime News Network, the collector's edition Blu-ray of "Persona 3 The Movie #2 Midsummer Knight's Dream" will include a soundtrack CD, new cover art, 48-page booklet, 10 stickers, and three illustration cards. Additionally, the artbox that contains the Blu-ray will feature a design from the film's director Keisuke Watabe. The reported discount price for this Blu-ray is $79.98.

Meanwhile, the standard edition which includes trailers, commercials and audio commentary, will be offered at a discount price of $59.98.

While there has not been an official announcement about it yet, perhaps fans unwilling to pay the money for the import Blu-ray can hope for an official North American version that will be cheaper.

"Persona 3 the Movie #3 Falling Down" will hit Japanese theaters on April 4.
