29th Golden Disk Awards Day 1: WINNER, GOT7 Receive Best New Artist, Taeyang Wins Digital Single Grand Prize

On January 14, day one of the 29th Golden Disk Awards was held at the Master Card Center in Beijing. Often referred to as the Korean Grammy’s, the Golden Disk Awards are the highest honors that are issued by the Music Industry Association of Korea.

YG Entertainment’s WINNER and JYP Entertainment’s GOT7 were the recipients of the Best New Artist Award.

Both groups were close with the popularity vote in the Best New Artist Division, with only a few votes placing GOT7 before WINNER prior to the close of polls. GOT7 were also the winners of the China Goodwill Award.

Big Bang’s Taeyang was the recipient of the Digital Single of the Year Daesang, Grand Prize. Fellow YG Entertainment artists, hip-hop trio Epik High, were the winners of the Best Hip Hop Award.

The Popularity Award was given to Girls’ Generation and Beast.

Digital Bonsang winners included Ailee, Taeyang, Girl’s Day, HyunA, K.Will, SISTAR, and Beast.

K-pop duo TASTY were the recipients of the Next Generation Award while Soyou and Junggigo received the Trend of the Year Award for their hit song “Some.”
