Today marks an all new episode of "Parasyte the Maxim." Episode 14 entitled "The Selfish Gene" was simulcast to fans outside of Japan courtesy of Crunchyroll. For those without subscriptions however, below are links to two websites where fans can stream episodes of "Parasyte the Maxim" for free online.

Synopsis:

This week's episode picks up with the scene in which Shinichi cannot admit to Murano that he has become inhabited by Migi. She walks away from him.

Shinichi chats with Migi later and Migi deducts they should hunt down the guy that's following them because it's likely that he's working for a small group. Migi suggests they find an ally. Shinichi and Migi meet up with Mamoru Uda and his parasite Joe. Mamoru says he'll wait around to see if he and Joe find anything about the guy that's following Shinichi.

Meanwhile, that guy meets up with Reiko. She fires the guy following Shinichi at that moment due to his incompetence seemingly. He speaks loudly about Shinichi being a monster and Reiko walks away from him. She later decides this is as far as she can go with human help. She also remembers the corresponding facial expression for laughter...but it's mostly scary rather than humored.

Meanwhile the Private Investigator drinks at home with his family. His Wife asks him if his current job is dangerous. He internally vows to surprise everyone with a discovery.

Later the Private Investigator is caught by Shinichi and thanks to Migi's parasite signal, they are able to get a ride out of town with Mamoru and Joe to talk with the Investigator. Shinichi asks the Investigator to remain quiet about Shinichi and Migi. He insists that Shinichi should come forward. Migi however threatens the Investigator. Migi also seems to demonstrate some sympathy for Shinichi's struggles so far.

Reiko requests to meet with Shinichi and Migi on the top of a University building. Meanwhile, she attends a class about "the selfish gene" with her baby. She meets up with Shinichi and he questions her about hr plans. She states that the Parasites must find a way to coexist in the way that humans and livestock coexist. But then she mentions Shinichi's murdered mother, and Shinichi cannot calm down.

Shinichi runs until he is stopped by a Fortune Teller. The Fortune Teller tells Shinichi that he cannot close his heart until he meets the person who opened it. Shinichi says he killed that person.
