K-Pop Throwback: LONG:D Revel In The Fun Of Romance On 'Love Eventually Goes On' [VIDEO]

It's not often someone creates a love song this fun.

South Korean duo LONG:D's single "Love Eventually Goes On," released last February, does just that.

The song takes the listener through a journey with someone willing to do whatever it takes for the one they miss while somehow managing to keep things lighthearted and quirky.

LONG:D label themselves as synth-pop artists, though their musical sounds definitely showcase some dabbling in disco-funk as well as soul. With Ha Minse at the wheel as the DJ and synth controller and Minshark with the vocals and keyboard, these two musicians have created a style all their own. Currently unsigned, the duo self-produces all of their own music, with "Love Eventually Goes On" being no exception.

The song starts off with a spoken introduction, there is a man narrating as the protagonist of the love story reminisces about missing someone with shots of a photograph lying on the ground.

This is where the beat starts to pick up.

The keyboard comes in with the vocals just as the male character in the story begins his attempt in reaching out to her. While the protagonist is struggling to journey to his love, there are roadblocks he must overcome. But even when he encounters hardship along the way, the mood of the song is still quite upbeat, as if it wants to act as a source of encouragement to the character taking the journey.

At no point does the tempo drop or become somber and this is quite refreshing to hear from a Korean love song, when so many are excellently sung, but mournful ballads. This lightness is assisted in the visual realm with a charming music video featuring the story told through the stop-motion animation using a mixture of Lego pieces and real-world objects.

The looped repetitive clapping also adds to the pace off the song and drives the character forward with an auditory push.

At the chorus of "Love Eventually Goes On," which happens around the middle of the character's journey, Minshark throws in some falsetto to his singing but maintains a positive and hopeful sound. With the way the feel of the song is going, it's almost no surprise that the guy gets to his lady at the end. There was almost no room for failure for him on his quest. The song is consistent in its positivity.

This is something else so different from most pop songs I come across from the region; many tend to lean on the very tragic or heartbreaking side.

This time, we're given a taste of something different, a happy ending.
