GLAM Officially Disbands As Members' Contracts Are Terminated

Korean girl group GLAM has disbanded after a member was sentenced to prison time.

The Big Hit Entertainment-Source Music collaboration group GLAM was officially disbanded on January 15, and all members’ contracts were terminated. The disbandment was announced shortly after member Dahee was sentenced to a year in prison for attempted blackmail of top Korean actor Lee Byung Hun.

GLAM debuted in 2012 with five members, as a collaboration project between two entertainment companies. One member, Trinity, left in 2012, and the group continued on as a four member group. Dahee was the most popular member, having appeared in the music drama, Monstar, which starred BEAST's rapper Junhyung. She played Kim Nana.

In September 2014, actor Lee Byung Hun reported Dahee and model Lee Ji Yeon to the Gangnam Police Station for attempted blackmail. The two had recorded a video of the three speaking lewdly with one another, and threatened him with making the video public. The two demanded five billion Korean Won, an estimated $4.6 million US. On September 15, Dahee and Lee Ji Yeon were both sentenced to a year’s imprisonment.

A representative stated that GLAM decided to disband, with each individual member going their own ways. Dahee’s trial and sentence were not officially declared the reason for disbanded, but it is widely speculated.

An entertainment industry insider admitted that Dahee’s situation would make it nearly impossible for GLAM to continue, even with three members or a lineup change.
The group had not promoted since 2014’s “Give It 2 U,” which was released in February of last year.

Jiyeon, Zinni, and Miso’s activities for 2014 and 2015 are unknown.
