MTV Iggy Calls Singer Yoon Mi Rae K-Hip-Hop’s ‘Diamond In The Rough’

MTV Iggy praised rapper and vocalist Yoon Mi Rae to be a ‘diamond in the rough’.

This past Monday, MTV Iggy released an article titled, ‘Yoon Mi-Rae is K-Hip-Hop’s Diamond In The Rough’ and spotlighted her journey of a 16 year old girl became one of the top artists in the Korea music industry.

Back in 2011, Yoon Mi Rae was also featured on MTV Iggy’s ‘The 12 Best New Female Emcees Dominating Mics Everywhere’ list.

In the most recent article, MTV Iggy praises not only her rapping but also her vocal skills, showing her growth from a rapper to a vocal artist. They also mention that she would be more than suitable to become a global artist as well.

“Yoon Mi Rae entered the hip-hop scene in Korea when she was just 16 years old,” MTV Iggy commented. “This was right when hip-hop was at its lowest in Korea. This is when she first debuted as a vocalist.”

“I love singing when I’m in the studio, but when I get stage I want to sing hip-hop,” Yoon Mi Rae commented.

When asked about secret to success in which she answered with, “the love of music and the love my dad had for music.”

“My dad was in the military but he loved music. He loved all kinds from jazz, hip-hop to R&B,” Yoon Mi Rae added.

In the article, she also hoped that people would look at hip-hop differently and not as just someone who wears baggy clothes and curses. Her wish is for people to understand the culture of hip-hop.

Along with Yoon Mi Rae on the of best female rappers from back in 2011 included Lioness, Nina Dioz, Arabyrd and more.
