Paris Insulted By Fox News' Muslim Claims, Mayor Hidalgo Plans To Sue [PHOTO]

Paris is reportedly unhappy with Fox News' claims about "no-go" Muslim zones in France.  The Guardian reports that Mayor Anne Hidalgo plans to sue for the damage the American news channel has done to the image and honor of Paris.

According to USA Today, Fox News reported that some neighborhoods in Paris are so heavily Muslim that some young men openly wore Osama bin Laden T-shirts.  The channel also broadcast a map outlining seven such zones, and reported that terrorists groups recruit members in the areas.

Hidalgo told CNN reporters, "When we're insulted, and when we've had an image, then I think we'll have to sue. I think we'll have to go to court, in order to have these words removed... The image of Paris has been prejudiced, and the honor of Paris has been prejudiced."

Fox News has since apologized for its misdeeds. However, it does not agree that a lawsuit is necessary. Michael Clemente, executive vice president for news at Fox News, said in a statement: "We empathize with the citizens of France as they go through a healing process and return to everyday life. However, we find the Mayor's comments regarding a lawsuit misplaced."

This past Monday, a Fox News anchor also said on air, "We have made some regrettable errors regarding the Muslim population in Europe, particularly in regard to England and France. We deeply regret the errors and apologize to any and all who may have taken offense, including the people of France."

Regarding the comments Fox News made about England, BBC reports that terror expert Steve Emerson called the city of Birmingham "totally Muslim" and ruled by Sharia law. Prime Minister David Cameron responded by calling him "a complete idiot."

What are your thoughts on the possibility of a lawsuit between Paris and Fox News?
