Harvey Mason Jr. Reveals Why Psy is So Successful

American producer and songwriter Harvey Mason Jr. reveals the reason for Psy's success with "Gangnam Style."

"Psy did not succeed because of his dance. In America, if the song is good, it doesn't matter where the artist is from. If his next song is good, he will be able to continue his success."

Producer Harvey Mason Jr. said, "Psy is only at the start of his success. He has the energy and the charisma to make people excited for his music. I believe in the power of K-Pop."

Harvey Mason Jr. has worked with top stars such as Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Whitney Houston as well as Big Bang's Taeyang.

He said, "I believe that K-Pop artists and K-Pop in general, when it comes to talent, is back to back with the U.S."

He also commented, "The hardest obstacle for K-Pop artists is the language and culture barrier. The connection needs to be made with the artist and the audience."

He also talked about being unique in order to survive in America Harvey Mason Jr. commented, "We don't want to hear Korean singer sing American style music. Dancing and fancy costumes only last for a while. We want a realistic and actual singer."

He lastly explained that it doesn't matter who the artist is. As long as the song is good, anyone can be successful in the States.
