"Parasyte the Maxim" was one rated by fans as one of the most popular anime series of Fall 2014. As such, it makes sense that more iterations of the series would pop up, including a live-action movie and now several manga shorts.

Nevertheless, today it was revealed that the next "Parasyte" one-shot manga will be drawn by Riichi Ueshiba, the creator of "Mysterious Girlfriend X." The one-shot will be titled "Migi's Journey" and is the fifth in a series of one-shots promoting "Parasyte the Maxim."

"It's been years since you had any limitation. And you've been walking around here all this time," reads the teaser in Kodansha Afternoon (via ANN).

According to Anime News Network, the previous artists that published "Parasyte" one-shots for Kodansha Afternoon are Akira Hiramoto, MikiMaki, and Miki Ronno. The project of one-shot manga by different creators is entitled "Neo Parasyte."

Riichi Ueshiba ended his series "Mysterious Girlfriend X" in the Kodansha Afternoon last September. The series began running in the magazine in 2006 and was adapted into an anime that was simulcast internationally by Crunchyroll. The series follows the strange relationship between two students who become romantically involved after one becomes addicted to the other's drool.

There are supernatural elements in "Mysterious Girlfriend X" which will likely help Ueshiba to create a story for the horror/sci-fi series "Parasyte." "Parasyte" was originally created by Hitoshi Iwaaki and follows the story of Shinichi Izumi after his body becomes a host to Migi, an alien parasite. Unlike the other parasites that have infiltrated humans, Migi is only able to control Shinichi's right arm. They end up working together to prevent the parasites from murdering humans for food.

Given the increasing resurgence of popularity for "Parasyte," perhaps the one-shots by other authors will get a series of anime OVAs. Nevertheless, Crunchyroll is currently simulcasting to the "Parasyte the Maxim" anime adaptation to appear appetites for parasite action.
