Prosecution Reportedly Demands Longer Prison Sentence For Ladies' Code Manager

Seoul prosecutors are reportedly appealing the Suwon Court's decision, hoping to lengthen the fourteen-month prison sentence of the man found responsible for the automobile accident that caused the death of two Ladies' Code members in September 2014.

Ladies' Code manager Park was driving the van the night that the female idol group suffered a fatal accident. In January, Park was sentenced to a year and two months prison sentence. Ladies' Code's agency announced that it would be appealing the sentence to shorten it, but the prosecution has demanded that the prison term be lengthened.

On January 26, Korean outlet Newsen spoke to a representative of Polaris Entertainment, Ladies' Code's agency. The rep explained, "We just heard that the prosecution is making an appeal. We have also immediately sent in a petition of appeal after hearing about the prison sentence."

Park was found guilty and sentenced to prison by the Suwon District Court due to violating the Act on Special Cases concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.

The rep also said that the manager's situation and the situation of Ladies' Code families is causing tension. "We′re trying to have the manager′s side and the bereaved family reach an agreement. Honestly, it′s very difficult to even bring up the subject of settlement now. Since it′s a very careful issue, we′re trying to find a solution so that neither side gets hurt. It′s very difficult."

Two members of Ladies' Code, EunB and Kwon RiSe, passed away last September following a late-night car accident on September 3. Three other members of Ladies' Code were injured, but have recovered from physical wounds.

It is unknown when the appeal will bring the case back in front of the Court.

Ladies' Code's three surviving members, Ashley, Zuny, and Sojung, returned to their dorm last November.
