'Seven Deadly Sins' Manga Goes On 1 Week Hiatus After Creator Nakaba Suzuki Falls Ill During Continuing Flu Epidemic In Japan

Today it was announced in the current issue of Weekly Shonen that the "Seven Deadly Sins" manga will go on a one week hiatus after the author Nakaba Suzuki fell ill. The announcement, complete with a character visual of a sick person in bed, marks yet another manga to go on hiatus due to the current flu epidemic in Japan. Reportedly, over 2 million flu patients have surfaced in Japan for the third consecutive week.

Fans in an ANN forum showed concern not only for Suzuki, but all manga authors who experience less than healthy working conditions:

"With the working conditions manga-ka have, illnesses are probably more common than we think, Get better soon!" said Kadmos1.

"This winter must be particularly brutal for the mangaka out there. I hope she gets well soon," added Mr. Oshawott with a sad face emoji.

"Seven Deadly Sins" is now among both "Prison School" and "Bleach" as serialized manga that has gone on hiatus during this winter's flu epidemic in Japan. According to Japan Today, last week the National Institute of Infectious Diseases "issued a flu epidemic alert for all 47 prefectures in Japan."

According to Anime News Network, Weekly Shonen Magazine assured readers that the "Seven Deadly Sins" manga is expected to return in the next issue. Crunchyroll is currently simultaneously publishing the manga series for fans outside of Japan who have little to no access to Weekly Shonen Magazine.

Kodansha Comics provides the following description for "Seven Deadly Sins":

"When they were accused of trying to overthrow the monarchy, the feared warriors the Seven Deadly Sins were sent into exile. Princess Elizabeth discovers the truth - the Sins were framed by the king's guard, the Holy Knights - too late to prevent them from assassinating her father and seizing the throne!

Now the princess is on the run, seeking the Sins to help her reclaim the kingdom. But the first Sin she meets, Meliodas, is a little innkeeper with a talking pig. He doesn't even have a real sword! Have the legends of the Sins' strength been exaggerated?"
