Grammy Awards 2015 Most Shocking Moments: Beyonce Gets Snubbed For Album Of The Year, Sam Smith Dominates With Four Awards

The Grammy Awards 2015 had its fair share of shocking moments, but perhaps the most surprising was Beyonce losing the album of the year award to Beck, and Sam Smith dominating Sunday night by taking home four Grammys.

Beck shocked everyone Sunday night when he beat Beyonce for the album of the year Grammy Award with "Morning Phase," snubbing the Queen Bee.

According to Entertainment Weekly, most people predicted that Beyonce was "long overdue" for the Grammy Award for album of the year. Her self-titled album was expected to beat Ed Sheeran's "X" and Sam Smith's "In The Lonely Hour," what was believed to be the stiffest competition.

Most also thought that Sam Smith had a fighting chance for the award with "In The Lonely Hour."

Forbes listed the reasons why Beyonce should have taken home the Grammy for album of the year: "She changed the music industry forever, she is one of the biggest and most respected artists in the world but doesn't have this one prize, she has been passed over several times before-but above everything else is the fact that her self-titled fifth album was simply the best album of the year. When you add up all the reasons, her fate is all but sealed."

Beyonce made Grammy Awards history this year by becoming the most-nominated female artist in the history of the awards show; Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith also had six nominations this year. However, Beyonce did win three Grammys, for best R&B performance, best R&B song, and best surround sound album, putting her in history books for 20 overall Grammy awards on her shelves.

But it looks like Beck shocked everyone by taking home one of the biggest awards of the night. The 44-year-old is a four-time Platinum artist with quite the credentials, but few expected him to come out on top Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith won four Grammy Awards Sunday night, and the show really became the crooner's night - he took home awards for record of the year, song of the year, best new artist, and best pop vocal album.

Smith felt no shame when he won his fourth Grammy Award Sunday night, throwing some shade at his ex boyfriend in his acceptance speech for record of the year award.

"I want to thank the man this record is about... for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys," Sam Smith said in his acceptance speech.

Unfortunately for Sam - but perhaps fortunately for fans who love his heart-breaking ballads - that inspiration hasn't come to an end: Sam Smith recently confirmed that his two month romance with boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel is over.

The 22-year-old singer revealed that he and boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel were over after two months of dating, during a concert in Toronto on Tuesday night before he performed "Like I Can," another one of Smith's songs about a break up.

"This song is very special for me today, as I've actually had to do a very similar thing with someone I've been seeing," he said.
