The "Voice" judge was nominated for six awards during the event.

After performing "You've lost that loving feeling" as a tribute to composer Barry Mann and lyricist Cynthia Weil, singers Jessie J and Tome Jones awarded the prestigious trophy to Williams.

Pianist Lang Lang and film composer, music producer and guitarist Hans Zimmer, joined the star singer. Pharrell and Zimer danced across the stage, a choir danced throughout the aisles.

At the end of his performance, Williams and his back-up dancers who sported black hoodies (in connection with the late 17-year old Trayvon Martin), threw up their hands as an expression of the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" protest gesture, in connection to the late 18-year-old Michael Brown.
