It is undeniable that 2015 is Sam Smith's year as he walked away with four awards at the recently concluded Grammy Awards. To celebrate his victory, many of his friends attended his after-party. Katy Perry was reportedly beside the "Stay with Me" crooner for a long time, which prompted speculations that this was the reason why Taylor Swift was absence was noticeably absent.

"Katy hugged and toasted Sam's success with pals. They stayed together for about 45 minutes. Katy seemed delighted with his wins and kept hugging him," claimed one source to New York Daily News.

While most people anticipated Taylor Swift's presence, she appeared to have ditched the celebration.

"Taylor was expected at the bash but ducked away. Execs worried that Sam could get caught in the worst hate sandwich in pop."

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift's feud started when the "Fireworks" songstress allegedly tried to sabotage Swift's tour by hiring her backup dancers. When Perry performed at the recent Super Bowl Halftime Show, many speculated that she subtly dissed Swift when the "Roar" singer asked her backup dancers to wear fifties-inspired swimsuits, which are reminiscent of the "Blank Space" songstress' style.

Recently, John Mayer also joked in an interview that Taylor Swift would probably do her best to avoid him at the Grammys. They used to date but the "Say" crooner is now back in the arms of the "Dark Horse" singer.

Despite Katy Perry and Taylor Swift's feud, nothing will stop Sam Smith from feeling joyful. During his acceptance speech, he thanked the person who inspired his debut album, "In the Lonely Hour."

"Thank you so much for breaking my heart because you got me four Grammys," he said.

Prior to his acceptance speech, Sam Smith talked about his struggles as an artist.

"Before I made this record, I was doing everything to try to get my music heard... I tried to lose weight and I was making awful music. It was when I started to be myself that the music flowed."
