SHINee's Key And CNBLUE's Jungshin Named Newest Hosts Of Mnet's 'M! Countdown'

In March, SHINee's Key And CNBLUE's Jungshin will take over hosting duties for Mnet's weekly music performance program, M! Countdown.

The cable network's long-running music show will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special episode on March 5, and at the same time two of K-pop's hottest stars are set to take up roles as the program's MCs.

On February 16, M! Countdown officials announced that SHINee singer Key and CNBLUE bassist Jungshin will join the program as Mnet looks to expand their influence.

“The popularity of K-pop goes beyond Asia and has been an impact around the world including Europe and South America," they said, according to OSEN. "Considering these circumstances, we have chosen popular Korean Hallyu idols as the MCs who are popular abroad and domestically.”

With over 400 episodes broadcast since the show's beginnings in 2004, M! Countdown has become a popular mainstay for K-pop fans across the globe. It currently airs weekly in China, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, the United States, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Each week, K-pop's latest and most popular stars perform on stage in front of a live studio audience in addition to a variety of other segments that discuss the latest releases and Korean music news. A weekly music chart is also a central focus of M! Countdown where ranking is determined by a combination of record sales, social media buzz, and fan voting.

In 2014, Key teamed up with INFINITE member Woohyun to form the pop duo Toheart. The pair's debut EP reached number one on Korea's Gaon chart.

Jungshin recently won Best Rising Star at the 2015 DramaFever Awards for his role in the TV drama Temptation.
