'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Star, Kodi Smit-McPhee, To Play 'X-Men: Apocalypse's' Nightcrawler! Filming Set To Start April 2015

A new cast member for the "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie has been revealed!

"Dawn Of The Planet Of the Apes" star, Kodi Smit-McPhee, will be joining the roster of "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast members as he officially signed on to play as Nightcrawler, who, as described on ComingSoon.net is "the 'fuzzy elf' mutant with the ability to teleport."

Furthermore, the post noted that Nightcrawler was "created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum," and he had his "first comic book appearance in "Giant Size X-Men" #1 back in 1975."

The casting update for Nightcrawler was revealed by "X-Men: Apocalypse" director, Bryan Singer, through an Instagram post. Check it out below:

Nightcrawler, created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, made his first comic book appearance in "Giant Size X-Men" #1 back in 1975.

Leading the cast of "X-Men: Apocalypse" are Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult, according to ScreenCrush.com. Moreover, McPhee will join the young cast for the movie including Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexanda Shipp (Storm) and Oscar Isaac, who will portray the role of Apocalypse, the main mutant antagonist for the film.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is reportedly going to conclude the trilogy that began with "X-Men: First Class" and continued with "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Filming is set to begin this April 2015.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" release date is set for May 27, 2016.
