B.A.P And TS Entertainment Set First Court Date In Contract Dispute Case

After a variety of public statements both for and against B.A.P, the Korean idol group's legal representation will meet with TS Entertainment reps.

B.A.P, formerly managed by TS Entertainment, will be heading to court for the first time, reports Star News. The first trial date will be in March, about four months after the entire idol group filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment. The trial date is set for March 13, but due to reported personnel changes at the Seoul Western District Court, the date may be pushed back.

All six members of B.A.P filed a nullification contract lawsuit against TS Entertainment in November 2014. Shortly after, family members and people in the industry close to the idols revealed information about TS Entertainment's practices towards the group, leading to accusations of "slave contracts."

TS Entertainment denied the claims and claimed that B.A.P had fair terms and brought forward the lawsuit without warning.

However, B.A.P and their supporters emphasized the fact that the members earned very little despite continuous promotions. B.A.P debuted in 2012 with the song "Warrior," and released multiple albums and singles, as well as held several concert tours, since formation of the group. Despite releasing eighteen singles since debuting in 2012, the six members reportedly only received 18,000,000 KRW, roughly $16,000 USD, each for three years of promotions.

Both sides have publicly stated that they hope to resolve the court case amicably, but are taking the lawsuit to court.

"Initially, the members hoped for a peaceful settlement, but following the claims of a hidden influence being behind the lawsuit, the members are undergoing serious negotiations regarding defamation," an inside source told OBS in a statement last December.

"The B.A.P members are not in direct contact with TS, and communication is taking place through legal representatives," the source added.

B.A.P's last Korean single prior to the lawsuit is "Where Are You? What Are You Doing?" from their album, "B.A.P Unplugged 2014."
