Baby Kara's So Jin Dead At 22 From Alleged Suicide

A popular trainee was found dead at her apartment.

A former DSP Media trainee So Jin (Ahn So Jin) was found dead at her apartment building. The singer had competed on the DSP Media-MBC Music survival show Kara Project: Kara the Beginning in 2014, where she competed to become the fourth member of K-pop girl group Kara. She was 22 years old.

Newsen reports that So Jin was found near her apartment building in Daejeon on a flower bed on Feb. 24. She was brought to a hospital but passed away shortly after.

So Jin had been a trainee under DSP Media for five years, until her contract with the agency ended in early 2015.

"The cause of death was excessive bleeding," said Daejeon Police. "We have not found a will."

The police are speculating that So Jin took her own life.

DSP Media issued a statement on February 25, reports CJ E&M enewsWorld:

"We are devastated and express our grief at the tragic news of So Jin, who has spent a long time as a trainee with our agency.

We received news from her family on the night of February 25 and have already visited her at the funeral home. We sincerely send our condolences as she leaves this world at such a young age.

Her family is currently in deep sorrow. They hoped that people would refrain from discussing details about So Jin and expressed that they would like to quietly send her off on her final trip," said the agency. "As we would like to follow their wishes, we are releasing an official statement. Please refrain from writing speculative articles and malicious comments."

Following the news, international K-pop fans began tweeting #RIPSojin on Twitter.

DSP Media announced the debut of upcoming girl group April in February.

KpopStarz would like to offer condolences to Sojin's friends and family.
