DSP Media Reportedly Confirms Contract Expiration Shortly Before Former Baby Kara Member Sojin's Suicide

Shortly after reports of former Baby Kara member Ahn Sojin's alleged suicide, record label DSP Media have revealed their reaction to the tragic news.

On Tuesday, 22-year-old Sojin was reportedly discovered in the garden of the apartment complex she resided in, and was declared dead after being rushed to the hospital. With reports of the former DSP Media trainee of jumping from her apartment, the label shared its condolences shortly afterwards.

"We suddenly heard of this unfortunate news today," said the label according to allkpop. "It is so unfortunate. We will do everything we can to help her family."

Reportedly, Sojin's contract with DSP Media was dissolved about a month ago and she was not a part of the label's upcoming girl group, April.

After investigations, the Daeduk police station released a statement declaring the death a suicide.

"We have concluded it to be suicide and we will be wrapping up the case," said a Daeduk police rep. "We did not find any traces of evidence that would suggest that it was something other than suicide. The family of the deceased is having a very difficult time. They want to send her off peacefully so there will not be any autopsy."

Previously, Sojin appeared on the talent reality show "Kara Project" as one of seven trainees vying to join the popular K-pop group Kara. During the series, Sojin discussed the hardships of fulfilling her dream of becoming an idol.

"I should make a debut as soon as possible, so that I can show my dad that this is a wonderful job," said Sojin through tears in an early episode.

"To enjoy life is my motto. When I think back to very difficult moments that made me want to give up, those moments, [when] I think back, I think I was happy. And in time, they all become good memories. Even if it is hard, I enjoy it. I've been living with this belief."

Since the tragedy, fans from around the world are sharing their condolences on social media, making the hashtag #RIPSojin a worldwide trend.
