SM Entertainment Denies Girls' Generation Korean Comeback Rumors

Despite initial reports of multiple releases from one Korea's most popular girl groups, Girls' Generation does not currently have plans for a Korean comeback.

On February 26, SM Entertainment denied reports of its most popular girl group releasing a full length Korean album in May 2015. Girls' Generation has plans to release a Japanese single, "Catch Me If You Can," in April, but the entertainment agency denied all Korean comeback rumors.

"Girls Generation is planning a [Korean] comeback with eight members," said SM Entertainment's representative. "However, the exact album date has yet to be set."

Prior to Jessica Jung departing the group in 2014 due to a conflict of interest between SM Entertainment and Jessica's business plans, Girls' Generation was known as South Korea's most popular nine-member girl group. The idol group set the bar for female K-pop acts, competing with YG Entertainment's girl group 2NE1 for the title of top girl group in South Korea.

Despite a member leaving in 2014, Girls' Generation members have continued their regular activities and promised that the group will make a comeback in 2015.

The news of a Japanese comeback was revealed on February 25, the Girls' first release since the line-up change. Girls' Generation will release their ninth Japanese single, "Catch Me If You Can," in Japan on April 22, and spend time promoting the single in Japan.

SM Entertainment's words verify that claims of a full-length Korean album being released in May are false.

Along with Girls' Generation's Japanese promotions, SM Entertainment announced a Korean comeback from Super Junior's subunit Donghae & Eunhyuk and there are reports of another Super Junior subunit promoting in Japan following member Yesung's discharge from the Korean army.

Girls' Generation is currently focusing on preperations for their Japanese comeback.
