K-Pop Idols, Together or Apart, Strong and Dedicated

K-Pop Idol groups seem to be doing various different activities than just singing these days.

Idol groups have been broken off into unit groups, trying out acting, appearing on variety shows and showing off their own talent and skills.

Recently, the meaning of 'group' and 'one' does not apply to idol groups. Each member is now trying to show their own skills off whether it be by themselves or as a group. With so much competition between idol groups, it is important for each member to have a certain skill that only they can do to stay in the industry.

Girls' Generation Unit Group- TaeTiSeo

Girl group Girls' Generation's unit group TaeTiSeo includes members Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun. They gained much popularity this year with their song, "Twinkle." This unit group was able to truly show off their vocals as a 3 member group rather than the usual 9. They even ranked number 4 on the U.S. iTunes album chart.

Big Bang Unit Group- GD&TOP

This duo is amazing. This duo began in 2010 on Christmas Eve as they continued to bring out hit songs such as "High High" and "Oh Yeah." Both G-Dragon and T.O.P worked together on the production of their songs as well. They were able to show their style of music and gain a wider audience as well.

4minute-BEAST Duo- Trouble Maker

A co-ed duo is a rare sight, but 4minute's HyunA and BEAST's Jang Hyunseung's duet in 2001 was a hot issue. Their song, "Trouble Maker" received a tremendous amount of attention for their shocking performance. They also had a real kiss scene during their stage performance at last year's MAMA's. Due to this song, there were also many parodies made of this song.

After School Unit Group- Orange Caramel

Performance girl group After School created a unit group Orang Caramel in 2010 with members Raina, Nana and Lizzy. They gained much attention for their charismatic performances and fun stage outfits. They showed a cute and fun side that was very different from their sexy image from After School.

SISTAR Unit Group- SISTAR 19

SISTAR's duo group consists of Hyorin and Bora. They first came out last year with their single, Ma Boy, and received much attention. This unit group showed the transition from girl to woman as they showed off their mature voices and sexy image, unlike their usual cute performance from SISTAR.
