Former MBLAQ Member Thunder Drops Stage Name As He Pursues Acting Career

Fans will have to get used to calling Thunder by his legal name, Park Sang Hyun, which will be the official credited name for his acting roles. Sang Hyun's new agency after leaving K-Pop group MBLAQ and deciding to pursue solo activities, MYSTIC Entertainment, announced the screen name change.

"Park Sang Hyun will be having a comeback in two years through the MBC weekend drama 'Make a Woman Cry' in April," reports allkpop.

Sang Hyun has confirmed his next TV acting gig as a troubled student Hyun Seo in the upcoming MBC weekend drama Let the Girl Cry which will air in mid-April. He will work alongside lead stars Kim Jung Eun and Song Chang Eul, and play as the son of Ha Hee Ra's character.

This news suggests that Sang Hyun is looking to establish a fresh image as he embarks on a solo acting career. It remains to be known, however, whether Sang Hyun will continue to use Thunder for his solo music activities or whether he will also be going by his legal name when promoting any new music.

He had previously put out self-composed solo songs like "Don't Go" and "Gone" as Thunder, and likewise was called as such when he last appeared on the small screen as Jin, a nail shop employee in the 2013 MBC drama Nail Shop Paris.

In contrast, fellow ex-MBLAQ member Lee Joon continues to flourish in his acting career while using his stage name. Do you think it's the right move for Sang Hyun to shed his Thunder stage name?
