Urban legend tells it that Floyd Mayweather knocked out his sparring partner while preparing for his mega fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Before anybody dismissed the report as untrue, photographer Chris Robinson swore by what happened on Sunday's sparring session between a very aggressive Floyd Mayweather and one of his sparring partners.

"Floyd doing his thing. He dropped one of the guys with a body shot," the photographer, who posts photos of the training in the Mayweather camp, insisted to CBS Sports.

CBS said that it was a long time since Floyd Mayweather dropped down an opponent, and under questionable circumstances.

"His last inside-the-distance win came under dubious circumstances against Victor Ortiz, who was turned toward referee Joe Cortez when Mayweather dropped him with a combination," it said. "Before that, the last opponent stopped before the final bell was Ricky Hatton -- in 10 rounds -- in December 2007."

"Outside of Ortiz, Mayweather has scored just one knockdown since the Hatton fight, in the second round against Juan Manuel Marquez in September 2009," the article noted.

Meanwhile, the buzz surrounding Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao's mega fight is getting stronger. But is it enough to save boxing at a time when the New York Times commented that the too many belts, too few personalities and lawlessness became a turn-off?

"Anything with Mayweather's name on it, however, generates plenty of ink; ditto Pacquiao. It is probably why the promoters are not bothering with a media tour, as such. There is little need. The fight sells itself," The Guardian noted.

"And will the actual boxing match the millions and millions of words that precede it?" the article added. "You would hope so, or the fight billed as the greatest in the history of boxing might be remembered as a limp comma in a very long sentence."

The Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao mega fight is scheduled on May 2 this year.
