The official synopsis for tonight's episode reads: "Andre forms a new musical relationship with Michelle (guest star Jennifer Hudson), and a woman from Lucious' past, Angie (guest star Mary J Blige), comes into the picture. Meanwhile, Lucious invites the whole family over to his home. However, everyone arrives with their own agendas. Hakeem, under the influence of Camilla (guest star Naomi Campbell), sets out to show his father that he's a true artist and a good businessman. Then, Cookie prepares to state her own agenda for Empire and for her family, when Olivia (guest star Raven-Symoné) arrives."

If you read carefully, you might have noticed that there's more than one guest star to get excited for in next week's episode: Mary J. Blige will play a character who knows Lucious incredibly well.

"Dream Girls" Oscar-winner and "Trouble" singer Jennifer Hudson will sing her new song for "Empire" in tonight's episode, titled "Remember The Music," which she debuted on March 9. Hudson's character, Michelle, will get close to Andre in a relationship that might bite back if his wife, Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday), finds out. Though the relationship might just be a "musical" one, the promo preview video hints that there is more going on between them than just notes.

Trai Byers opened up last week about Hudson's appearance on the series: "She brings a purity with her as an actress into the role of Michelle that connects with the purity of Andre," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "Her light shines onto his light, and her light combines with his light, and it showcases the Andre that he can potentially be in a way that steps away from the needs of Empire Entertainment. It's a beautiful thing [because] it seems that Andre could have gone any way but went the way of the family, which kind of buried him, and there's so much more potential there. What can he do? He doesn't have to be a part of that world. I think that's encouraging, and she will encourage."
