Toronto Metro News Features Red Velvet Member Wendy Son Ahead Of Group's Comeback

Red Velvet member Wendy Son has been wowing listeners even way back in high school when she was still singing in a show choir, according to an online feature by Metro News, a Canadian daily newspaper.

"When I first heard Wendy sing, I was completely blown away and I told myself that I need to get in touch with this girl," said Jorge Toledo-Ramirez to Metro News.

Toledo-Ramirez, a K-pop songwriter and producer, remembers seeing Wendy for the first time during a K-pop competition in Vancouver in 2011 and then began working with her on some songwriting projects.

Obviously oozing with talent, Wendy was then recruited by SM Entertainment in 2012, and relocated to Korea from Canada to train and eventually debut as part of Red Velvet.

Even previous choir members who knew Wendy raved about her singing ability. "She she had this amazing range and almost this gospel-like quality to her voice. She was always doing Beyonce covers," revealed Bouranova to Metro News.

But upon hearing the pop music that Wendy's group has put out, Bouranova laments that the idol could do better. "From what I can hear, it's an underuse of her talent," she told Metro News.

Wendy will have a chance to impress her previous choir mate soon as Red Velvet is planning a comeback as a larger five-member girl group next week on March 18 with the addition of the 16-year-old Yeri, a triple threat who can sing, rap and dance. The group's comeback song has been revealed to be "Ice Cream Cake" which suggests a sweet concept.
