K-Pop Idol Generation is Over? 'Rise of the Indie Musicians'

K-Pop idols and indie were two genres that were never sent together. However, it now seems that these two different types of music are going head to head with one another. The big 'hallyu wave' of idols seems to be deteriorating while indie musicians are coming out on entertainment shows and holding large scale concerts. Currently, it seems to be the indie bands prime time to shine.

The indie bands popularity can be seen through the end of the year concerts for 2012. The idols of the 'indie world', Epitone Project, recently held a concert which brought in around 4,000 fans. Group Urban Zakapa also recently sold out their concert tickets bringing in around 10,000 fans.

Indie duo 10cm will also be holding a concert next year in February at one of the largest stadiums in Korea. It is rare to see indie bands performing at large scale locations. Artists who have sold out shows primarily perform at these locations.

Many top stars are also collaborating with indie bands recently. Lee Seung Gi, recently collaborated with Epitone Project for his new album. Epitone Project produced and wrote Lee Seung Gi's title song, showing indie bands amazing music talent.

K.Will also worked with producer Primary for his new album as well. Many other stars have collaborated with indie stars and have gained much attention.

Many indie bands are also appearing on shows and gaining attention.

It seems that the indie industry will continue to grow. Back then, visual music was everything. Everything had to be seen on tv with the flashy dancing and performances. However, now it seems that musical talent is taking over. Rather than watching a song being performed, people are now listening to the music.
