2PM's Chansung Signs On For Japanese Film 'Wasureyuki'

2PM member Chansung will take on the lead role in the Japanese film Wasureyuki, reports Koreaboo. The idol-actor will star alongside Japanese actress Ono Ito in a film adaptation of the popular namesake manga which has reportedly sold over 700,000 copies.

It was not clear whether the Wasureyuki film will follow the manga storyline faithfully, but it has been reported that Chansung will play the role of Yoon Tae Oh, an exchange student that flies back to Japan as a full-fledged veterinarian. During his return, Tae Oh reunites with childhood friend Miyuki, presumably sparking old feelings.

Chansung will be in good hands under the notable director Han Sang Hee who has shot other romantic films such as Virgin Snow in 2007 and another Korean-Japanese movie Love's Word in 2014.

Chansung's latest role further expands his list of acting credits that began with his debut on MBC sitcom High Kick! Since then he has appeared in dramas like KBS's Jungle Fish and MBC's 7th Grade Civil Servant. His most recent drama was in KBS2's one-episode special Your Noir where he took a turn as a newly recruited gangster that gets caught up in a complicated situation with a prosecutor and the prosecutor's wife.

Japanese TV viewers will also remember Chansung as part of the cast of Kaito Royale, a nine-episode series about thieves and their heists, which aired in the Japanese broadcasting network TBS. Chansung's idol group, 2PM, could be considered one of the more popular K-Pop groups in Japan. 2PM began the year with a successful promotion of the song "365".
