Psy Postpones New Album Shortly After News Of Big Bang Comeback Delay

A little bit of last minute changes from the world's most popular "Gentleman."

YG Entertainment's most popular artist, Psy, has announced a delay to his latest album, in order to seek "a new direction that will appeal to a wider audience," reported the K-Pop Herald on March 20.

News of delays relating to both Psy and Big Bang's comebacks threaten to push off YG Entertainment's 2015 schedule.

In January, YG Entertainment announced that Psy would be among YG Entertainment's 2015 releases, following a comeback from idol groups like Big Bang and WINNER, as well as the debut of rookie male group iKON. Big Bang was said to start the promotional cycle for YG Entertainment in March or April, followed by iKON's debut, while Psy and WINNER were said to make comebacks later in 2015.

Big Bang's comeback was set for April, with a concert series at the end of the month. However, it was later reported that the release date for Big Bang's first Korean album in three years has not yet been decided due to the idol group's efforts to produce the best album possible

The news of Psy's album delay comes within a few days of reports of uncertainty regarding Big Bang's April comeback, leading to further postponement in the debut of iKON and the comeback of WINNER.

Psy is reportedly adding hip-hop elements to his upcoming album, in a bid to target the U.S Market.

Psy's "Gangnam Style" became a surprise hit in 2012, after the song became a viral sensation; his follow up track, "Gentleman," also became one of the most popular videos on YouTube.

The singer has said that his upcoming album will be very different from his previous hits. It is unknown whether he will make his comeback with "Daddy," a song rumored to be the title song of his next album. It was previously rumored that Psy would ditch "Daddy," but YG Entertainment denied those rumors.
