Red Velvet Deny SM Trainees From 'Happiness' Music Video Will Join Yeri As New Members

After fans ran with the rumor of Red Velvet being a rotational group, SM Entertainment's latest girl group is settling the issue once and for all.

On Wednesday, Xsports News interviewed Red Velvet after the addition of new member Kim Ye Rim (Yeri). As one of seven SM Entertainment trainees spotted in the "Happiness" music video, they were asked about the possibility of other trainees joining Yeri for the group.

"Ever since we were little, Yeri and I played and talked a lot," said Red Velvet member Seulgi according to allkpop. "I know about Yeri's merits so when I heard the news, I thought, 'Looks like our group color is getting an upgrade. We're the quiet type, but now it feels like we are fresher. I like that a fun and bubbly friend joined us."

Reportedly, while there were theories that as many as seven additional members could join Red Velvet to become a 12-member group, the current members confirmed that there "will be no more changes."

However, observers still appear skeptical over this, given SM Entertainment's recent controversies surrounding EXO and Girls' Generation.

"Just because they said it doesn't it has to be true," wrote allkpop user 5awlachan.

"I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but SM could have told them to say that for all we know. Plus, they didn't address the fact that they could be a sub-unit to a larger group. Sure, Red Velvet will not add members, but it could be that Red Velvet is only a sub-unit."

Red Velvet appeared on Naver Music for a live broadcast on Wednesday, where Yeri revealed some experiences filming a music video for the first time.

"The first time I wore heels was for the music video for 'Automatic,'" revealed the 15-year-old idol according to Koreaboo. "It was very difficult."
