As GLAM's Dahee Awaits Appeal Decision For Blackmailing Lee Byung Hun, Actor Lands Role In 'Beyond Deceit' With Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins

Less than a week before the final appeal hearing to determine whether vocalist Kim Dahee of the K-pop girl group GLAM will spend a year in prison for blackmail, things appear to be going better then ever for the victim of her alleged offense, actor Lee Byung Hun.

On Friday, a representative for Lee from the talent agency BH Entertainment confirmed to the publication eNEWS that the actor will be starring alongside Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins in the legal thriller "Beyond Deceit."

The news that Lee was in negotiations to join the cast was first broken by the Hollywood Reporter on March 6, but the 44-year-old actor had yet to confirm that sharing the bill with two bone fide Hollywood legends was a done deal.

"Lee Byung Hun will be starring in the film 'Beyond Deceit,'" the rep's statement on Friday read.

Though Lee's management was mum regarding details for what the star's role in "Beyond Deceit" will be, the film reportedly centers around an ambitious young lawyer (to be played by "Downton Abbey" actor Dan Stevens), who becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation after attempting to takedown a ruthless pharmaceutical executive.

The news has to come as a release to Lee's management, who have watched two Lee films, "The Insiders" and "Swords Women," get their release dates pushed back in recent months due to the ongoing blackmail scandal, according to the Korea Times.

Back in February, while Lee was in the US negotiating his deal on "Beyond Deceit," a BH rep told the Korean entertainment website Soompi that the actor was in no rush to return home.

"While he is expected to come back shortly, he has no set return date or fixed plans for activities in Korea," the rep said.

Meanwhile, Dahee and her coconspirator, model Lee Ji Yeon, were released on bail last week and appear to have good odds of having the jail sentence suspended, according to reports last week in the Korean media.

"We decided it was right to carry on without detention," read a court statement granting the bond request.

Though it seems unlikely either plaintiff with be starring in a Hollywood prestige picture anytime soon.
