JYP Entertainment Stock Prices Dip Shortly After miss A's Suzy Confirms Relationship With Actor Lee Min Ho
Two of South Korea's most popular stars confirmed their relationship after being spotted together in Europe.
Representatives of both actor Lee Min Ho and actress-idol Suzy (Bae Su Ji,) a member of JYP Entertainment's girl group miss A, announced that the two had been dating for a month, after the pair was photographed by Korean outlet Dispatch while spending time together in London and Paris. Shortly after the news broke, the news trended on both Facebook and Twitter worldwide.
The news of the relationship comes only a few days before miss A's first comeback since 2013's "Hush."
Shortly after the news broke, Lee's agency, Starhaus, confirmed that the relationship is only a month old.
"They are in the early stages of dating," said a Starhaus representative on March 23. "Please look on them with fondness."
The news relating to Suzy, widely viewed to be the most prominent member of JYP Entertainment's staff, led to immediately worrying results for JYP Entertainment.
Shortly after the news broke on March 23, JYP Entertainment's stock prices began to drop.
The company's stock rose previously in March, after JYP announced the comeback of miss A and the debut of a new male idol group. On March 23, the stock prices dipped before climbing again then descending, ending 50 KRW less than starting at on the same day, according to Bloomberg.
miss A's first comeback since 2013 is highly anticipated, and JYP Entertainment began releasing teaser images. Suzy's individual teaser images have yet to be released, but there is mixed reaction on her Instagram account in regards to the news and the impending comeback.
Many fans commented on Suzy's Instagram account, congratulating her on the news of her relationship, but also wondering whether the group's comeback will be affected because of the change in her image as Korea's little sister.
"Congratulations, long last, but why Dissatch must release the news when miss A will comeback?" asked Instagram user 0112o.
"[It's] all OK just promise [that] all [will] be ok with miss A promo[tion], say A [miss A's fanclub] love you," said fako_93.
