2AM Members Seulong, Jinwoon Leave JYP Entertainment, Group Reportedly Has No Plan To Officially Disband

Two members of the 2AM quartet, Im Seulong and Jinwoon, have chosen not to renew their contracts with JYP and will be transferring to other agencies, reports KPopherald. But JYP assured that the departures do not mean 2AM is breaking up nor should it affect the group's activities.

"Even though some members go to different agencies, they will likely work as 2AM just as the five-member Korean band g.o.d does," a JYP official reportedly said.

"Park Jin-young, the chief of JYP, respected each member's career path choice, even though 2AM is a group he holds dear," the official added.

While Seulong and Jinwoon have chosen to leave the JYP nest, a third 2AM member Jo Kwon has been reported to remain as a JYP artist. The fourth member Changmin is said to be deliberating his options with four months still to go before his JYP contract expires.

"It's not an official disbanding," a JYP spokesman told Joy News 24, according to Koreaboo. "The members are like family to each other. Although the agencies are different, as long as they want to they will stay as 2AM."

The two departing members have already selected new agencies with Seulong signing on with Sidus HQ while Jinwoon is in the process of entering MYSTIC Entertainment. Their agency transfers are seen as strategic moves as Seulong and Jinwoon pursue more acting roles and other solo activities. Seulong is currently starring in Fool's Love

Sidus HQ focuses on talent management for TV drama and music production, and has been building capabilities to promote Korean stars in China. Sidus HQ has a roster of more than two dozen actors and actresses, including recent drama headliners like Jang Hyuk, Kim Woo Bin, Kim So Hyun and Kim Yoo Jung.

Meanwhile, MYSTIC Entertainment is home to solo artists such as Ga In and former MBLAQ member Thunder.
