Boyfriend Member Youngmin Accepts 1st Acting Role In Upcoming TV Drama 'Protect The Family'

Boyfriend member Youngmin can expand his title from idol to "acting-dol" as he has secured his first role as an actor in the KBS weekday drama Protect the Family. It is set to air this May.

"We ask for a lot of interest and love for Youngmin's first acting role as he becomes an acting-dol," said Starship Entertainment, reports Allkpop.

Youngmin will play as Go Chan Yong, the younger brother of Go Ye Won, played by actress Jung Hye In.

His character hails from a wealthy family and possesses a great talent for music, an attribute that should make it easier for the idol to settle into the role.

He will then meet Lee Hae Su, played by lead actress Kang Byul, and through a series of events will come to live with her in a rooftop apartment.

Protect The Family will be a "family drama looking back on the meaning of 'family' through three generations of sons and fathers," according to a Hancinema.net description.

Other actors confirmed for the drama include Jae Hee and Brown Eyed Girls member Narsha.

The drama will be helmed by director Jeon Seong-hong and written by Hong Yeong-hee.

It will be quite a busy couple of months for Youngmin as he prepares for the TV show shooting while his group readies for the upcoming KCON 2015 Japan M! Countdown special on April 22.

Boyfriend will be attending and performing in the overseas event along with SISTAR, INFINITE, GOT7, Lovelyz, Block B and several other groups and artists.

We wish Youngmin luck in his acting debut!
