JYJ's Kim Junsu Performs On Music Show For 1st Time Since Leaving SM Entertainment And TVXQ
For the first time in six years, one Korean singer was granted permission to appear and perform on a music show.
XIA Junsu, also known as JYJ's Kim Junsu, made his broadcast re-debut on April 13, after appearing on EBS's Symphony Space. The singer had been blocked from performing on any Korean music shows since 2009, in part due to a contract dispute with former entertainment agency, SM Entertainment after he and two others left TVXQ.
The singer expressed his thanks towards EBS several times during the filming, and also took to Twitter to thank EBS and the fans who have supported him since splitting from TVXQ.
During the set, Junsu thanked EBS.
"I am a singer, but it's been almost six years since I was able to go on a music program," he said. "I am glad that I am on a music program right now, because I thought that I would never be able to go on music programs and have been unable to do so up until now. I want to relay my gratitude towards the director of EBS and the director of Sympathy Space for helping me perform on stage and appear on air."
During the performance, Junsu reportedly shed tears and shared heartfelt moments with the audience.
On Twitter, Junsu left several long, heartfelt messages.
"To the fans who laughed and cried with me today, on the day that I recorded my first music broadcast in 6 years..." XIA began. "And to all the fans who couldn't be here but are wating for the news... I sincerely thank you all for walking with me step by step, up until today. Even though the uphill battle was not smooth, today was possible because we are together. I love you."
