[BREAKING] SM Entertainment Denies Chinese Media Reports Of Tao Leaving EXO

Third time's the charm, or so they say, but not for for fans of K-pop group EXO after Chinese media outlets announced that another member of the Korean-Chinese idol group may be leaving the boy band.

On April 16, reports from China revealed that EXO member Tao has left EXO and is looking for a way to end his contract with Korean entertainment powerhouse, SM Entertainment. SM Entertainment's representatives did not respond to initial requests for responses, but told Chinese outlet Sina that the situation was "unclear."

Shortly after the initial reports, SM Entertainment told Star News that the report is "completely untrue."

Similar reports in 2014 came out of China immediately prior to the departures of Kris (Wu Yi Fan) and Luhan from EXO and Mandarin language subgroup, EXO-M.

Tao is one of the two remaining Chinese members of 10-member act, EXO.

Chinese website iQiyi reported that Tao was in the process of terminating his contract.

"SM Entertainment claims that that Tao is taking a rest due to a recent leg injury," reported iQiyi, referencing an injury the singer received earlier in 2015. "But someone close to Tao has said that he is seeking a contract cancellation."

Tao's name became one of the most popular search terms on China's Weibo and Korea's Daum search engines shortly after the report.

While EXO made a comeback on March 30 with "Exodus," Tao was unable to promote fully with the nine other members of EXO due to an injury after an accident during a EXO concert in March.

In April, days before the rumors began surrounding Tao's alleged departure plans, SM Entertainment announced that it set up a company in China for Lay, EXO's other remaining Chinese member.

After the departures of Luhan and Kris in 2014, SM Entertainment released a statement stating that the company had concerns that EXO's Chinese members were being targeted by outside forces to leave EXO, allegedly to pursue careers in China.

In 2014, Tao denied any plans of leaving the group. However, since both Tao and Lay have been absent from many promotions, rumors have continuously spread about their potential departures from EXO.

Shortly after the news, fans began to comment on Tao's latest Instagram update.

Dae.dream expressed the worries of many fans by saying, "TAO, Don't leave us, 너무 사랑해 [We love you a lot] ♡"

Other fans expressed disbelief. an_rahmatika said, "I believe in you. I believe that you will not leave us."

EXO's fans also asked that Tao not make them go through the same situation that occurred in 2014.

"Please don't go. Don't let [us] cry one more time," wrote minilluminate.
