Rain's Military Scandal Continues, Singer Gets Additional Punishment

The fallout for Rain continues! The K-Pop heartthrob, who has been in hot water for violating the terms of his mandatory military service, has been ordered by a disciplinary committee to read It Hurts Because It's Youth and The Wolf of Wall Street as part of his punishment.

Yesterday, a representative from the Ministry of National Defense said Rain must also "swallow his pride" and submit a letter of apology for "causing a disturbance and tarnishing the image of other entertainers in the military."

Earlier this year, it was reported that the singer was using his leave, which was granted to him in so that he could work on official military business, to hang out with his girlfriend, actress Kim Tae-hee. Facing criticism for allowing Rain more time off than most soldiers, the military began an investigation and sentenced him to one week of probation.

Rain's special treatment within the military has raised outrage in South Korea. The military's practice of treating celebrities and non-celebrities differently was widely scrutinized and criticized by many.

Rain enlisted back in October 2011. He is expected to be released sometime in July.
