A Texas veterinarian bragged about killing a feral cat with a bow and arrow and posted a photo on Facebook of her smiling with the dead cat. In the comments section of her Facebook post she said she was too "awesome" to get fired for the photo - but then was fired from the Washington Animal Clinic she worked at in Brenham, Texas.

According to KWTX.com, Dr. Kristen Lindsey, DVM, posted the picture on her Facebook page with the caption: "My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted."

The post quickly went viral and prompted numerous calls to the Brenham Police Department and Washington County Animal Control.

In the comments section of her post, she wrote: "no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I'm awesome!"

Lindsey was fired on Friday from the Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham.

The animal clinic posted a statement on Facebook: "Dear Friends, Clients, and other interested folks. We just learned of the conduct that is discussed below. We are absolutely appalled, shocked, upset, and disgusted by the conduct. We have parted ways with Ms. Lindsey. We do not allow such conduct and we condemn it in the strongest possible manner. Please know that when informed of this we responded swiftly and appropriately and please do not impute this awful conduct to the Washington Animal Clinic or any of its personnel."

Lindsey later removed her Facebook photo and then pulled down her Facebook page.

Brenham police say the cat was shot in Austin County. The Austin County Sheriff's Office told KBTX-TV is investigating.
