EXO's Xiumin Deletes Instagram Account

An Instagram exodus for EXO?

Less than a month after EXO's Kai deleted his short-lived Instagram account, another member of EXO deactivated his Instagram account. The account belonging to Xiumin, a member of EXO and Mandarin-language subgroup EXO-M, was no longer active as of April 21.

It is unknown why both Kai and Xiumin deleted their accounts. Neither EXO member explained the deletion primary to departing from Instagram. However, Kai’s account only ever featured one picture before the deletion. In comparison, Xiumin posted numerous pictures on his Instagram account prior to deleting it.

This is the second time that Xiumin deleted an Instagram account. His first account, xiurista90, was deleted shortly after he began using it, while the second account, exoxm90 also went inactive.

While the reasons for Xiumin deleting his account is unknown, other members of EXO have threatened to delete their accounts in the case of fans and anti-fans hacking Instagram to gain access to private pictures.

In December, Chinese media outlets reported that one Korean member was looking to leave EXO. Amidst on-going rumors of future departures from the SM Entertainment powerhouse group, the deletion has set off alarms among fans.

Even while some fans worry on social media, shortly after Xiumin deactivated his account other fans began peddling a new account as Xiumin’s new, unconfirmed account.
